Goryeo comes to terms

Map showing Goryeo comes to terms — The Mongol Empire, 1206–1294
TURNING POINT · THE MONGOL EMPIRE, 1206–1294

1259 — After six invasions and thirty years, with the court holed up on Kanghwa island while the peninsula burned, the crown prince travels to the Mongol court. Goryeo keeps its king and loses its independence — vassal, in-law and, soon, unwilling shipyard for the Japan expeditions.

This is one scene of Chapter 7 — The Machinery of Empire in The Mongol Empire, 1206–1294.
