Privacy
Maps of History is built to know as little about you as possible. This page is the complete list of what exists and where it lives.
What we don’t do
- No cookies. No analytics. No ad networks, pixels, fingerprinting or third-party trackers of any kind.
- No server-side account database. We cannot see your reading progress, your exam scores, or your sign-in record.
What lives in your own browser
Sign-in and progress are stored as localStorage records on your device (your name, email, membership standing, chapters read, exam results, reading streak). They never leave your browser. Clearing your browser data removes them; we hold no copy.
Payments
Checkout happens on Stripe’s hosted payment pages. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. We receive your email address and what you bought, so we can deliver your membership by email.
If you join the Dispatch (our mailing list) we store your email address with our email provider and use it for exactly one thing: a letter when a new map opens. Unsubscribe links are in every email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence like any inbox does.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare sees the traffic that any web host sees (IP addresses in transient logs); we run no logging of our own.
Your rights
Email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you (typically: your purchase record at Stripe and your mailing-list entry) or to have it deleted.
