Terms & Refunds
Short version: one membership opens every atlas, you can cancel anytime, and if it isn’t what you hoped, thirty days means thirty days.
The service
Maps of History sells access to its interactive history atlases. The WW2 atlas is free for everyone. A Cartographer membership (monthly) or Patron membership (one-time, lifetime) opens the full collection, delivered as self-contained files by email together with a member pass that unlocks standing on this site.
Payments & cancellation
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout; taxes may apply by region.
- The founding monthly rate is locked for as long as your membership stays active.
- Cancel anytime from any Stripe receipt (“manage subscription”) or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future charges; the current period runs to its end.
30-day refund, in full
If you’re not happy within 30 days of a first purchase — monthly or Patron — email [email protected] and we refund the full amount. No forms, no questions you have to answer.
Fair use
Membership files are for your personal use (and your household or your own classroom). Don’t redistribute them publicly. Schools and departments: write to us for a licence — it exists and it’s cheap.
The content
The maps argue history honestly: borders are simplified, casualty figures are scholarly estimates with uncertainty stated, and the atlases are works of interpretation, provided “as is,” without warranty of fitness for any particular purpose. Cartography is built on Natural Earth (public domain). “IB” references the International Baccalaureate® syllabus for alignment only; Maps of History is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by the IB.
Changes
If these terms change materially we’ll say so on this page and, for members, by email. Continued use after a change means acceptance.
