Piracy at Ko Kra (1979–81)
On the Refugee crises map as “Ko Kra”
1979–81 — Pirates, many of them Thai fishermen, attack refugee boats in the Gulf of Thailand, robbing, raping, abducting and killing; women were held captive on this small island. In 1981 UNHCR found that most boats reaching Thailand had been attacked, many of them several times. Remember them.
