Kilkis and the civilians (1912–13)
1912–13 — Every army in the Balkan Wars burned villages and drove out civilians of the “wrong” faith or language; Kilkis was burned in July 1913. A Carnegie Endowment commission documented the crimes in 1914. Hundreds of thousands became refugees, Muslims above all. Remember them.
