Guangchang

Apr 1934 — The Fifth Encirclement is different: German-advised blockhouse lines, 700,000 men, a tightening ring of concrete and wire. The soviet’s conventional defense at Guangchang fails with 5,500 casualties. By October the only choice left is breakout — the march that becomes the Long March.
This is one scene of Chapter 6 — The Soviet Republic and the Encirclements in China in Revolution, 1911–1949.
