The storm of Jerusalem

Map showing The storm of Jerusalem — The Crusades, 1095–1291
SITE OF MEMORY · THE CRUSADES, 1095–1291

15 Jul 1099 — the city is taken and its Muslim and Jewish inhabitants slaughtered. The chroniclers’ boast of blood “to the horses’ bridles” is exaggeration, but a massacre it was. A site of memory, not triumph.

This is one scene of Chapter 2 — The First Crusade in The Crusades, 1095–1291.
