Galang refugee camp (1979–96)
On the Refugee crises map as “Galang”
1979–96 — Indonesia gives an island south of Singapore for a UNHCR processing camp, the kind of centre the Geneva meeting promised. Well over 100,000 Indochinese passed through it on their way to new countries; its grounds are now a memorial park.
