Battle of Kohima (1944)
On the Indian independence map as “Kohima — the war at India’s door”
Apr–Jun 1944 — The Japanese Fifteenth Army, with Bose’s Indian National Army beside it, is broken at Kohima and Imphal by the largely Indian Fourteenth Army. The battle decides that India’s future will be settled by politics, not conquest.
