Grenada · Haiti and Kenya independence
Grenada, French until 1763 and British thereafter, saw a revolution of its own in 1795–96, when Julien Fédon, a planter of mixed descent, rose with enslaved and free people under the banner of the French Republic. The rising held most of the island for over a year before British troops crushed it. Grenada became independent in 1974.
