Tlaxcalan alliance with Cortés (1519)
On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Tlaxcala”
September 1519 — The confederation of Tlaxcala, never conquered by the Triple Alliance and long cut off from its trade, fought Cortés’s small force and then allied with it. Tlaxcala gave the Spaniards a base, tens of thousands of soldiers and a refuge after their flight in 1520.
