Choeung Ek (1975–79)
1975–79 — Prisoners of the Tuol Sleng (S-21) interrogation centre were taken to this former orchard south of Phnom Penh to be killed and buried. A memorial stupa now holds thousands of skulls. Under Democratic Kampuchea between 1.5 and 2.2 million people died from execution, starvation and disease. Remember them.
