Traiskirchen refugee camp (1956)

On the Refugee crises map as “Traiskirchen”

Nov 1956 — Austria opens a reception camp for Hungarian refugees in former army barracks south of Vienna. It is still the country’s main reception centre for asylum seekers today, a reminder of how often Austria has stood at the edge of someone else’s crisis.
