Mao’s China · TURNING POINT ·
Xi Jinping at Liangjiahe (1969)
On the Mao’s China map as “Liangjiahe”
Jan 1969 — A fifteen-year-old from Beijing, Xi Jinping, son of a purged vice-premier, arrives in this cave village in northern Shaanxi as one of thousands of Beijing youths sent to the Yan’an region. He stays almost seven years. The rustication shaped the generation that would govern China half a century later.
