Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) (1932)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Gorky car plant”
Jan 1932 — Built with Ford’s help on the Volga at Nizhny Novgorod, renamed Gorky that year, the plant began turning out copies of Ford’s Model AA truck, and copies of the Model A car followed in December. Its new “socialist city” of workers’ housing was meant to show the life the plans promised.
