Hvalsey Church (1408)

On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Hvalsey church”

16 September 1408 — Þorsteinn Ólafsson and Sigríður Björnsdóttir were married in this stone church, the last written record of Norse Greenland. The same Icelandic witnesses reported a trial for sorcery in Greenland in 1407, evidence that Norse law and church courts still worked there. Its walls still stand, the best-preserved Norse ruin in Greenland.
