Liberation of Bergen-Belsen (1945)
On the Refugee crises map as “Bergen-Belsen”
15 Apr 1945 — British troops reach a camp holding about 60,000 starving prisoners among thousands of unburied dead; some 13,000 to 14,000 more die in the weeks after liberation. Beside it the British open the Hohne camp, which became the largest Jewish displaced persons’ camp in Germany. Remember them.
