Berlin Airlift (1948–49)
On the Refugee crises map as “The Berlin airlift”
Jun 1948–May 1949 — When the Soviets blockade West Berlin, American and British aircraft supply the city through Tempelhof and other airfields. The crisis hardened Germany’s division into two states in 1949 and left West Berlin as the door through which millions would later leave the East.
