Gigant state farm (1928–30)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Gigant state farm”
1928–1930 — On the Salsk steppe south of Rostov the state founded “Gigant”, a grain farm allotted some 240,000 hectares, an area the size of a small country, and worked by imported tractors. It was the showcase of mechanised socialist farming, though most collective farms waited years for machines of their own.
