Sozak uprising (1930)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “The Sozak uprising”
Feb 1930 — In the Sozak district of southern Kazakhstan, armed Kazakh herders seized the district centre and killed officials in protest at confiscations and collectivisation. Troops crushed the revolt within ten days, killing about 300 rebels; Kazakh historians count hundreds of risings on the steppe in 1929–31.
