Vinnytsia massacre (1937–38)
On the Stalin’s Soviet Union map as “Vinnytsia”
1937–1938 — The NKVD shot thousands of residents of Vinnytsia and buried them in the city’s orchard, cemetery and park. German occupation authorities exhumed 9,439 bodies in 1943 and used the find as propaganda, which kept the crime’s history contested for decades.
