Hofstaðir Viking hall (10th century)
On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Hofstaðir”
10th century — A chieftain’s hall at Hofstaðir near Lake Mývatn, one of the largest Viking-age buildings excavated in Iceland, was used for great feasts. Its excavation shows how power in a land without a king rested on hospitality, livestock and religious leadership.
