Ingólfr Arnarson’s farm at Reykjavík (874)
On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Reykjavík — Ingólfr’s farm”
874 — According to Landnámabók, Ingólfr Arnarson, the first permanent Norse settler of Iceland, built his farm here after throwing the high-seat pillars of his hall overboard and following where they drifted. Archaeologists have found settlement remains just above the Landnám ash layer.
