Feldafing DP camp (1945)
On the Refugee crises map as “Feldafing”
May 1945 — In a former Nazi elite school on Lake Starnberg the US Army opens the first displaced persons’ camp in its zone for Jews alone. After the Harrison Report, Eisenhower ordered separate Jewish camps across the zone on its model, and such camps became self-governing towns with schools, newspapers and theatres.
