Greek–Turkish population exchange (1923)
On the WWI map as “The population exchange”
1923 — Under a convention signed at Lausanne, about 1.2 million Orthodox Christians of Turkey and 350,000–400,000 Muslims of Greece lose their homelands, most of the Christians already refugees since Smyrna burned in September 1922. Religion, not language, decided who had to go. Remember them.
