Victims of Chinese land reform (1950–52)
On the Mao’s China map as “The land-reform dead”
1950–52 — As work teams carried land reform through the south and centre, landlords and “local tyrants” were tried before village crowds, and many were beaten to death or shot. Estimates of the dead run from about one million to two million, some higher; no complete count was kept. This marker stands for villages across China.
