Tlatelolco market (1337–1521)
On the Norse and Aztecs map as “Tlatelolco — twin city and great market”
c. 1337 to 1521 — Tenochtitlan’s twin city on a neighbouring island, conquered by its neighbour in 1473. Its great market, by Cortés’s estimate, drew more than 60,000 people a day, trading with cacao beans and cotton cloaks as money, and impressed soldiers who had seen Rome.
