Tiananmen Incident (1976)
On the Mao’s China map as “Tiananmen, April 1976”
4–5 Apr 1976 — At the Qingming festival for the dead, huge crowds lay wreaths and poems for Zhou Enlai, many attacking Jiang Qing and her allies. On the night of the 5th, militia and police clear the square with clubs; the Politburo calls it counter-revolutionary and strips Deng Xiaoping of his posts.
